Trash Pick Up Changing in Newburgh
As most have heard, as of Wednesday November 1st our curbside trash removal vendor closed their doors and could no longer service the Town of Newburgh. We are currently in the process of working with a new contractor Doug's Disposal/ Trash Busters.
Trash day will change to Thursdays starting December 7th, 2023.
This means you will put your trash out on Fridays from now thru December 1st. We will still follow all the same rules as we have been, which is out by 7am, no bags over 40 pounds, no loose trash in the cans, cardboard broken down and bundled together. If you have any questions, please call us at 234-4151.
We wanted to let residents know that there will be another change to the way the trash will be picked up in the next few months. The selectboard are working diligently on a plan to convert the town to using toters.
What are toters you ask? They are the big trash cans that are picked up by an arm on a trash truck. We will be holding a public informational meeting on this topic on December 4th, 2023 at 6:00 P.M. We would like to have you come and bring your questions and concerns.
Special Town Meeting on December 4th, 2023, following the public informational meeting.
The Special Town Meeting is to ask the town to use funds from the PERC funds account (established by the Town in June of 2018) to purchase and implement the Toter program. The PERC funds originated when the town voted not to join the Fiberight venture in Hampden. The money was the investment money the MRC held for being a charter member of PERC for 20 years. The balance in the account as of 11\15\2023 is $109,817.65.
